Production log week 3

Production log 3

What progress did you make since your last entry?

Since my last entry, we have fully completed our advert and we began to film and edit another one, that is still based around Flake. We kept to our original idea of our slogan " for the days that crumble" and the two cast members, so it comes across as a series style advert and also the same concept being that the male messes up a important thing in their relationship, the female getting angry and then the Flake bar resolving the issues and making everything better again.

What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The challenges that we faced with when it came to filming our advert, is that we didn't have the part of the tri-pod which links to the camera and as we were filming in the evening we was unable to obtain/find another one and we wasn't able to re-schedule filming for another day. So when it came to filming for some of the shots, we had to pile objects such as books and then place the camera on top of it, as we didn't want the footage to look dodgy, but with some of the shots, where the actor was moving, I had to hold the camera very steadily, but we made sure to re-shoot the shots, if the camera was moving about too much, but in the end the shots that we got where at a good standard. We then was able to start editing and we started to put all the clips in the right order, but we realized of what we have so far, that it's nearly reached the 30 second mark, so we are going to have to remove some of the clips we have or change the speed rate of them.

What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?

We didn't really face any technical problems, as we had spent the previous week editing, so we was both used to Final Cut pro, when it came to editing again and we just have to make sure that continuity flows through our advert, as we are nearly at 30 seconds on the timeline, so will have to change the clips we already have or change the speed of them, but not making it look un-tidy.

What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?

The targets that I hope to achieve would be to finish of editing our new advert and find appropriate music, as I think this time around it's going to be more difficult to find music that sets matches a dinner scene and at the same time show the actress getting annoyed at the male and also hopefully after this, we will be able to start the evaluation.

What progress did you make since your last entry?

Since my last entry, the progress that we have made is that we have uploaded all of our footage and have completed editing all of it together. The one thing that I thought would have been a problem was the music, but luckily after editing it all together, we found a song that went really well with our advert, so we decided to use that. So overall this week of editing has gone really well, as we have finished before schedule.

What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

When it came to editing, the logistical problem, was mainly to do with us filming a little too much and have to try and include the right clips, so that our advert showed continuity and that the plot was noticeable. So after we had done a rough 30 seconds of our advert, which went to about 40 seconds, we decided to take out parts such as the train scene, as this ended up cutting our advert down quite a bit and then it just came to hitting the 30 second mark, which we did by making some of the clips slower and faster, but making sure that we didn't over do it, so the clips didn't look untidy.

What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?

Their wasn't really any technical issues this week, as we both had used Final Cut Pro in the past, so it just took a short time for us to remember how to use the software and then we began to edit the footage. Luckily, we didn't have to re-film any of our shots, so this meant that we could spend more time on the editing side rather than going to film again.

What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?

The targets that I am to achieve would be maybe to start the evaluation, as we have finished our advert completely and both of us are happy with the outcome of it.

What progress did you make since your last entry?

Since our pre-production stage, we have went out to film our advertisement and we decided to leave relatively early so that we will be able to get all the shots that we needed, before the sun went down. We managed to get it all filmed in one day and made sure when it came to filming, that we filmed some of the shots more than once, so that when it comes to editing, we will be able to choose the best one, which also means that we won't have to travel up to London again.

What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

When it came to filming the main obstacle that we faced was the weather, as through the holidays the weather had been changing a lot and we were worried that we wouldn't be able to film, as the weather would of caused filming to be quite a hassle and also we didn't want to damage the equipment and also cause harm to the cast, due to paths being slippery and wet. But luckily the day that we did film on, was nice and sunny and allowed us to get all our filming done all in that one day, which is also why we decided to film other shots, one to make sure that we got the right shot in the end and the other being just in case if we had to go and re-film the weather might be different, and that would ruin the continuity through our advert.

What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?

The technical difficulties that we faced this week would be when it came to filming the train shots as they where slightly difficult to film due to the public walking past, but we did manage to get it done in the end. Also another technical challenge was when we were trying to film the actor running forward, as the camera kept moving about too much and even though we wanted to show he was running at a fast pace, the camera moved about too much and it made it look all over the place, so in the end we made it a static shot and just had the actor running straight for the camera, rather than the camera moving in front of him.

What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?

Before my next entry the targets that I hope are achieved would be, that we import all of our filming and then begin to start putting all the clips together and start to find what background music where going to be using.
